Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 17.75 points or 0.28 per cent to settle at 6,216.95. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.21 points to finish at 2,220.98 and 3.28 points closing at 1,359.66.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 4,206.64 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 2,617.31 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 312 issues traded, 107 closed green, 57 in the red and 148 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
GENEXIL topped the turnover chart, followed by ADNTEL, SP Ceramics, BSC and SEAPEARL.
BGIC was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 9.87 per cent while AL-HAJTEX was the worst loser, losing 1.60 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 27.28 points to settle at 18,326.02 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 15.30 points to close at 10,985.41.
Of the issues traded, 46 advanced, 40 declined and 51 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 12.19 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 4.77 crore.
