Different groups have different views on the economic condition of Bangladesh during the coronavirus period. But it seems the dark clouds looming are a thing of the past and bright rays of development have taken its place. This is because of the disconcerting aspect of unemployment losing a chip of its severity in the country’s job sectors.

A report published in this daily says that a study by BBS found that unemployment rate increased by 10 percent in July, but dropped by four percent at the end of September. This development is encouraging and if we consider the 400,000 government job vacancies that are going to be filled very soon, it is quite an extraordinary feat that is on the verge of being accomplished in this crisis time.

In this aspect, enterprises that are going strong after the coronavirus pandemic have played a vital role. Besides, a big impact has been created on lowering the unemployment percentage because of the government announcement of 21 stimulus packages worth around Tk 15 lakh crore to keep the country’s economy buoyant in the face of the coronavirus epidemic.

Despite significant pressures on health and corona

management, the government has consolidated

 the economy with adequate economic

stimuli and social security measures to ensure

basic services for the poor and needy

The government hopes the projected 8.2 per cent economic growth for the current fiscal year would be achieved, as the economy would rebound at a high pace just after the Covid-19 outbreak. If so, the condition of a large number of people will not be as bad as people had feared. However, it is true that not all people are affected in the same way.

The report further elaborates Bangladesh’s economy is recovering from the effects of the epidemic. Despite significant pressures on health and corona management, the government has consolidated the economy with adequate economic stimuli and social security measures to ensure basic services for the poor and needy.

Above all, the authorities concerned should take initiative to provide job opportunities for those who are worthy. Also, people should take the initiative to create businesses and start employing the country’s people on their own initiative.
