State-of-the-art locomotives now in Pakshi Railway section

Forty state-of-the-art broad gauge-meter gauge locomotives are being added to the Western Pakshi Railway. Already 16 broad gauge engines have arrived in the country. After the trial, the addition of phases to intercity trains will make the Western Railway more dynamic than before and reduce the engine crisis. 

Railway Pakshi Divisional Office Transport Officer (DTO) Anwar Hossain confirmed the information.

In the meantime, new engines have been added to the ‘Kopotaksh Express’ intercity train plying on the Ishwardi-Khulna route under the Pakshi division. From Ishwardi Loco Running Shed, Loco Master Touhidul Islam sits in air-conditioned locomotives for the first time.

According to the Railway Pakshi Divisional Office, a total of 40 locomotives procurement have been contracted with the United States. Of these, 16 have arrived in the country. These engines are made with the latest technology in the United States of 3,300 horse power. Its maximum speed is 140 kilometers per hour.

Railway Pakshi Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) Anwar Hossain said eight of the 16 locomotives have already been brought to Ishwardi Loco Running Shed. It has also been prepared for an experimental run in conjunction with the coach.

In a few days, it will be added to the intercity passenger trains in phases. 

He said that all the new 16 are broad gauge engines.

With the addition of 40 new locomotives to the Pakshi section, the Western Railway locomotive crisis will be alleviated. When engines are added to intercity trains, trains will run faster and shorter, and rail mobility will increase.

The driver's seat of the engine is air-conditioned, he said. Which was not in any engine before.
