The world is turning into a global village and it is high time that Bangladesh starts spreading its culture and traditions into the international arena. Already the number of local TV channels which are broadcasting abroad is quite high and to add to that count BTV, the national television channel, has started its broadcasts in India. This is a great leap towards spreading the Bangladeshi culture globally. For several decades since the advent of television cable network in Bangladesh, there have always been a number of Indian channels which have been broadcasting in the country and has worked to give entertainment to both the people of India and Bangladesh and thus the Bangladeshi people have become familiar with the Indian culture.
The programmes being made
for broadcasting should
be of highest standards
However, at present, with the digital era coming into the entertainment industry, the World Wide Web has established itself as a very predominant factor, and in these continuations, the television channels are also looking towards becoming online platforms. But one thing which is to be kept in mind with the recent development of BTV being broadcast in India is the standard of the programmes. Since the boundary has been stretched far and wide with Indian airtime coming into the play, the programmes being made for broadcasting should be of the highest of standards to find market among the Indian people as well as the Bangladeshi citizens.
In respect to that, it is to be kept in mind that with the view to catching up to the Indian television market, BTV should not veer away from the Bangladeshi culture and traditions. Instead of adapting the Indian cultures, the programme producers and personnel should work towards developing the programmes in such a way so that they impart our own traditions and cultures to the Indian audience in an appealing manner.
