Stamp out militancy

Members of different law enforcement agencies are now in the field to root out militancy and terrorism from the country. They have already intensified anti-militancy raids across the country in the greater national interest. As the fundamentalist forces are harmful to any country, we need to root out them to build a healthy society with communal harmony.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of “Shahadat, a new organisation formed based on the ideology of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam,” in separate drives in Dhaka and Narayanganj on Friday. They formed the new organisation Shahadat as the name Ansar Al Islam is known to all, and sometimes it is difficult for them to continue activities under the banner. The number of members of this organisation is more than 100.

Islam is a religion of peace and it always lays emphasis on the rights of people.  However, BNP-Jamaat during their regime had carried out bomb, grenade and bullet attacks, smuggled in 10-truck arms and misappropriated public money and the money meant for the orphans. They are the sponsor of militancy. Shaykh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai had emerged during the BNP regime. They have proved again that they are the sponsor of militancy. Now militancy is now under control but it is yet to be completely eliminated from the country. There is no room for militancy and terrorism in our country.

The ruling Awami League took stand against all sorts of crimes and it is maintaining a zero tolerance policy against militancy and terrorism to make Bangladesh a safe abode for all. Law enforcement agencies have destroyed militants’ dens and their networks across the country. Now police and intelligence agencies are on high alert in dealing with any untoward situation for safety and security of the people.

Home-grown militants are carrying out activities with different identities. Their motive is to make the country unstable. Sometimes they were identified as Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), sometimes as Neo-JMB and even Ansarullah Bangla Team.

Apart from law enforcement agencies, Alem-Ulema (Islamic scholars) should help the government stamp out terrorism and militancy. We firmly believe Bangladesh can root out terrorism and militancy completely if the Islamic scholars help the government in this regard. Peace is essential to continue the trend of development, and it will be maintained if we can contain terrorism and militancy.
