Aiming to create agricultural entrepreneurs and to ensure safe food production stakeholder congress with the marginal farmers was held at the Pulse Research Institute auditorium of Ishwardi on Wednesday noon.
The Agriculture Extension Department (DAE) of Ishwardi organised the function in association with the Programme on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition Entrepreneurship and Resilience( PARTNER) in Bangladesh.
Presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Meeta Sarker, the function was attended and addressed, among others, by the Deputy Director of DAE, Khamarbari, Pabna, Jahangir Alam Pramanik, Principal Officer of Pulse Research Institute and Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute Dr Sultan Ahmed, Deputy Director of DAE Roknuzzaman, Senior Monitoring Officer of PARTNER, Masud Ahmed, Bogura, as special guests while Additional Agriculture Officer of Ishwardi Mahmuda Motmainna delivered the welcome speech.
Chief guest Jahangir Alam Pramanik said, the country remained on the first row in crop production except for the production of spices and edible oil seed crops.
The food security was also ensured more or less and there was also a change in the food habits of the people. He added, diversity in crop cultivation is needed in line with the weather of the region.
