Restricting tourists to Saint Martin Island will hurt the tourism industry in the coming days said, Sea Cruise Operators’ Owners Association of Bangladesh.
They made the announcement at a press conference held in the conference room at a hotel in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday.
The association General Secretary Hossain Islam Bahadur addressed the press conference while presided Tofail Ahmed presided over the function. Among others present were Keary’s Representative Nur Mohammad Siddiqui and TOAC's representative SA Kajal.
President Tofail Ahmed said in a written statement, “BIWTA considering restricting shipping to St. Martin. If only two ships run, thousands of tourists will be deprived which will affect the entire tourism industry. The hotel and motel business in Cox's Bazar will be affected. Tourists will travel to St. Martin in a wooden boat at the risk of their lives, even if shipping is stopped. So the purpose for which shipping is being restricted will not be of any benefit. Rather, the risk will increase in the tourism sector.”
Therefore, a special request has been made to the concerned from the press conference to reconsider the matter.
