Dhaka Education Board has published short syllabuses for SSC and HSC candidates of 2022, suitable for taking SSC and HSC examinations after 150 and 180 days of classes respectively.

The two syllabuses were published by the Dhaka Board on Thursday (May 27) and later uploaded on the Dhaka Education Board's website Friday.

Earlier, in a virtual press conference on Wednesday (May 26), Education Minister Dipu Moni announced the publication of short syllabuses to complete the SSC and HSC examinations of 2022 after taking classes in 150 days and 180 days respectively.

Meanwhile, the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has restructured the examination syllabus according to the new syllabus. The NCTB and the Board of Education released the information in separate press releases on Thursday (May 27).

In this regard, Prof Nehal Ahmed, Chairman of Dhaka Board said, "NCTB has prepared curriculum contraction and curriculum for 2022 academic year just like the current academic year." However, he hoped that the students of the 2022 academic year will have enough time to attend the classroom if the educational institutions reopen from June 13.

Prof Mashiuzzaman, a curriculum member of the NCTB, said, "These students could not take classes for about a year as the institutes were closed due to Corona pandemic. The curriculum has been compressed to size for their sake."

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has sent letters to the registrars of all universities, instructing them to take steps to conduct undergraduate and postgraduate examinations directly and online, taking the situation of the Coronavirus pandemic into account.

The letter signed by Ferdous Zaman, UGC Secretary has been sent to the registrars of all universities and medical colleges yesterday.

The UGC letter said that considering the Covid-19 situation, it is important for the universities to continue their educational activities. Therefore, it is requested to take necessary steps to take the undergraduate and postgraduate level examinations directly and online.

The letter also said that the UGC and the government have instructed all the universities to launch online education activities considering the physical, mental and educational life of the students.

However, the university classrooms will be unlocked after vaccinating the teachers and the students, said Muhammad Alamgir, member of UGC.

All educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 17 last year due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

In the meantime, online classes are ongoing in different public universities but no exam is being taken. Therefore, students of 49 public universities are at risk of session jam.
