The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination is going to be held tomorrow (November 14) in compliance with the health safety rules with regard to the corona pandemic.
Due to the pandemic, the exams were not held in due time and many students and their parents were frustrated. The country's education system got under pressure.
However, the government has repeatedly launched lockdowns and vaccination programmes to curb the surge of the dreaded virus. When the situation finally came under control, the government announced to conduct this year’s SSC and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations in November and December respectively.
Earlier, schools and colleges were reopened on September 12 this year after a year and a half following a significant improvement of the Covid-19 situation.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed some restrictions to ensure a peaceful environment in the centers during the SSC and equivalent examinations.
The restrictions were imposed in a circular signed by DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam BPM (Bar). The media and public relations department of DMP shared this information on Friday.
During the examination in Dhaka metropolis, DMP has announced that the public will not be allowed to enter within 200 yards of the centers except the candidates.
This order will remain in force from the November 14 till the days of the examination.
According to the schedule, examinations will be held in two shifts; from 10 am to 11 pm, and from 2 pm to 3 pm.
It has also been said due to Covid-19 pandemic, the test has to be taken in accordance with proper hygiene rules. Candidates have to take seats in the examination room 30 minutes before the start of the examination.
First multiple choice and then creative / compositional (theoretical) test will be held. There will be no break between the two parts.
Earlier on November 7, a nine-point directive was issued by the Ministry of Education to comply with all SSC and equivalent candidates appearing for their exams this year.
It said that in order to complete the SSC and equivalent examinations of 2021 smoothly, some instructions are provided to be followed by all.
A total of 2,227,113 candidates,1 lakh 79 thousand 334 more than last year, will take part in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.
According to the Ministry of Education, 1,800,998 students will take part in the SSC examinations from 9 general boards. In addition, 301,887 Dakhil and 124,228 vocational students will take part from Madrasa and Technical Education Board respectively.
The practical examination for SSC and Dakhil will end on November 28. SSC and equivalent results will be published within thirty days of the end of the examination. As such, the results of SSC and equivalent examinations of 2021 will be published in December, this year.
