A secondary school certificate (SSC) candidate was hacked to death by a rival at Beribadh area of Rupganj area on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sunny, 18, son of Millat Hossain, resident of Bijoynagar village and was a SSC examinee of this year from a local High School of Rupganj Upazila.
Police said that a young man who was familiar to Sunny named Mahfuz posted a status humiliating Sunny on facebook a few days ago. On base that status language made an altercation between Mahfuz and Sunny.
But on Monday night Mahfuz and some adolescent associates attacked Sunny and chopped him with a Sharp weapon. Sunny died on the spot.
Deceased’s father filed a murder case with Rupganj police but none was arrested till now.
Officer in Charge of Rupganj police station AFM Sayeed said that the accused will be captured soon.
