The ongoing fighting inside Myanmar has prompted the education board to shift an SSC exam centre located along the Ghumdhum border under Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban district.

Professor AMM Mujibur Rahman, the examinations controller of Chattogram Education Board, said the SSC exam centre of Ghumdhum High School will be shifted to North Ghumdhum Government Primary School No. 1 and North Ghumdhum Government Primary School No. 2.

The permission to use the following institutions as alternative venues to the existing centres for the SSC examination in 2024 has been issued due to the security risk posed by the conflicts, he added.

Professor AMM Mujibur Rahman said, “A team of the board visited the Ghumdhum High School centre and we have changed the venue as per the instruction received from the ministry.”

“We had to get approval from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education as the new two venues are government primary schools.

The announcement has been made after the ministry approved the centres,” he added.

This year’s SSC exam will start on February 15 and end on March 12. This time, 145,590 candidates from 1,125 schools will take the exam in 219 centres under Chattogram Education Board.
