Abul Kalam Azad, Member of Parliament from Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency demanded to split Cumilla into two administrative districts-Cumilla (North) and Cumilla (South) to make citizen services more accessible.

Abul Kalam Azad raised this demand while he was speaking in the 12th session of the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday.

Abul Kalam Azad MP said, Bangladesh is a role model of development to the whole world today.

Today, we have become a self-respecting nation under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of the father of the nation who envisioned a golden Bangladesh. Once Henry Kissinger disparaged Bangladesh as a 'bottomless basket'.

But the former US president Barack Obama while travelled to Kenya and said in a seminar there to follow the ‘Bangladesh model'.

Abul Kalam Azad, having firm faith in Sheikh Hasina's leadership, stated that the people of greater Cumilla have played an outstanding role in the liberation war of Bangladesh, and they have also been contributing significantly in the countrys economy, agriculture, education, culture, politics, and remittances.

At that time, Abul Kalam Azad also said that my constituency is situated on one side of Dhaka-Chattogram Highway and on the other side Cumilla-Sylhet highway.
