The number of corona cases is increasing in Hatia upazila of Noakhali. Hatia being an island region, it is difficult to transfer the victims to the district headquarters quickly.
In such a situation, a special isolation center has been inaugurated at Hatia Upazila Health Complex for the critically ill patients on Sunday morning.
Former MP and Hatia Upazila AL unit President Mohammad Ali inaugurated the 15-bed special isolation ward in the hall room of the Upazila Health Complex.
Upazila Chairman Mahabub Morshed Liton, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rezaul Karim, Upazila Health Officer Dr Nazim Uddin and others were present at the time.
According to hospital sources, 569 samples have been collected in the upazila so far of which, 84 came positive and one of them died. However, the number of survivor is not less, that is 53.
Doctors said that most of the patients were taking medical treatment from their homes due to lack of adequate oxygen supply and the critically ill were treated in a hospital ward.
At present the number of victims is increasing every day. It was difficult to give treatment in the previous ward. After informing the matter to former MP Mohammad Ali, a special isolation ward has been set up in the hall room of the health complex on his personal initiative.
A 24-hour power supply has been arranged in the isolation ward through a large generator. Ten oxygen cylinders with a capacity of ten thousand liters and two oximeter machines have also been kept there.
