A Qur'an recitation and special prayer ceremony was held in Cox's Bazar’s Chakaria on Saturday marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day
Chakaria Upazila Awami League unit organised the programme with 1,001 Hafez Alems from different mosques and madrasas of Chakaria asking salvation for the soul of Bangabandhu and all the martyrs of August 15.
Local MP and Upazila Awami League President Alhaj Zafar Alam, General Secretary Gias Uddin, Chakaria Upazila Parishad Chairman Fazlul Karim Sayedee, Chakaria Municipality Mayor Alamgir Chowdhury and other leaders of Awami League and its affiliates were present there.
Later, a special munajat was held for the welfare of the people and the country.
