Special measures are a must for air pollution prevention: Shahab

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin has directed the Director General of the Environment Department to implement special measures to prevent air pollution. 

The Environment Minister gave this order at the ADP meeting held in the meeting room of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change on Tuesday.

 The Environment Minister said that the mobile court should be conducted in the city against air polluting Institutions and vehicles from tomorrow through the three executive magistrates currently working in the Environment Department.  In order to increase the number and scope of the operation, requests should be made to the Ministry of Public Administration for the appointment of more Executive Magistrates on an urgent basis and the Public Security Division to send the required number of law enforcement personal.

 The environment minister said that this situation of air pollution in the country is not desirable under any circumstances.  Therefore, the ministry and the Department must take ultimate measures to prevent air pollution.  For this reason, inter-ministerial meetings should be held to coordinate with other relevant ministries to take and implement effective legal decisions. 

The minister said that he will participate in the campaign if necessary to create awareness about air pollution and noise pollution.  The Environment Minister directed the concerned project director to take effective measures to stop hydraulic horn and noise pollution.

Deputy Minister of the Ministry Habibun Nahar, Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Administration) Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Additional Secretary (Development) Mizaul Hoque Chowdhury, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Moniruzzaman, Additional Secretary (Environment) Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, Additional Secretary  (Environmental Pollution Control) Mizanur Rahman NDC, Director General of Department of Environment Dr Abdul Hamid and Chief Conservator of Forests of Department of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, heads of various departments and senior officials of the Ministry were present.
