Speakers for radical change in edn amid Covid-19

Speakers at an international symposium focused on the radical changes in the education system, role of educational institutions and responsibilities of teachers to meet the challenges of online education centering Covid-19 crisis.

The made the call at an international symposium on ‘Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’organsiedvirtually by the Centre of Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CoETL) of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. DU ViceChancellor  Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the symposium as chief guest.

Director of CoETL Prof Dr SabitaRezwana Rahman presided over the symposium while Prof Emeritus Dr Janinka Greenwood of University of Canterbury, New Zealand delivered the keynote speech on ‘University Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century: Criticality and Challenges’.

Prof Simon Walker of University College of London,Researcher of University of Bristol Dr Md Golam Jamil and Director of Arena Centre of University College of London Dr. Sam Smidt spoke on ‘Innovations in Assessment and Feedback: Institutional Responses in Times of Disruption’, ‘Real World Learning Pedagogies in Higher Education’ and ‘Addressing the Challenges of Teaching and Learning in the Time of COVID-19’ respectively.

Prof Dr Sayeedur Rahman, Dr ATM. Shamsuzzoha and Dr Muhammed MahbuburRahaman, among others, spoke at the symposium.

Addressing the event, DU VC Akhtaruzzaman said that such international symposium would play significant role in enhancing the quality of education and professional skills of teachers and researchers. 

He thanked the CoETL for organizing the symposium.

Speakers at the eventalso discussed innovations and new ideas of the University of Canterbury, the University College of London and the University of Bristol to reshape the future of education.

Teachers, scholars, researchers and students from home and abroad participated in the symposium. 

British Council of Bangladesh was the partner in planning and organizing the international evet.
