Speakers for proper implementation of SONGO project to ensure maternal health

Speakers at a function in Gaibandha on Tuesday laid importance on proper implementation of SONGO project to ensure nutritional development of pregnant and lactating mothers and children including adolescent girls, reports BSS.

They said this in an inception workshop on Sustained Opportunities for Nutrition Governance (SONGO) Project held at the hall room of Sundarganj upazila parishad of the district on Monday.

The five-year project designed for nutritional development of the selected pregnant and lactating mothers and children including adolescent girls of the upazila, officials said.

Implementing organizations RDRS Bangladesh and Netherland base international development organization ICCO, arranged the function with the financial support of European Union.

UNO Soleman Ali presided over the workshop while operational leader of SONGO project at ICCO Mostafa Nurul Islam Reza moderated the function.

Upazila level officials, social workers, NGO activists and media persons participated in the workshops.

The speakers underscored the need for implementing the project properly to attain its cherished goals and thanked all concerned for introducing the project for underprivileged mothers and children of the upazila.

Earlier, a power point document was presented highlighting the objectives of the project.

Similar workshop was also held at the conference room of Fulchhari upazila parishad of the district on the same day.

Upazila chairman GM Selim Parvez addressed the workshop as the chief guest while UNO Abdul Halim Tolstoy presided over the function.
