Speakers at an event on Sunday laid due emphasize on the art of harnessing human energy towards creation of a better future.
They opine that the business leaders should aim to live multi-dimensional lives, also being about more than job and profits that help connect people, expand interests and skills, and identify new opportunities.
The observations were made in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme titled “All-Round Leadership” organised by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) on Saturday.
They also said that honesty, competence, forward looking mindset and inspiring ability are the top four qualities of a modern leader. The purpose of total leadership is to improve performance in all four domains of life- work, home, community and self by creating mutual value among them.
Syed Nasim Manzur, Managing Director, Apex Footwear Limited attended the occasion as the chief guest while Mohammad Sanaullah FCS, the immediate Past President & Council Member and Chairman of the Professional Development Sub Committee chaired the session and Muzaffar Ahmed FCMA, FCS President of the Institute delivered the welcome speech.
Quazi M. Ahmed, Founder & CEO, Future Leaders, a leadership and soft skills development consultancy firm presented a Keynote paper on All-Round Leadership.
Syed NasimManzur, while delivering his speech, highlighted that clean and transparent communication is important for leadership. Main responsibility of a true leader is to pay attention to critical factors. He also mentioned about change management and contextual leadership.
He also discussedthe term VUCA which stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of general conditions and situations. He also said that now a days everybody talks about three areas of compliance environmental, social and governance (ESG). Research says that 64% of consumers actually pay more if it is sustainable.
Akhter Matin Chaudhury FCA, FCS, Former Chairman & Managing Director, NuvistaPharma Limited & Council Member, ICSB and Hossain Sadat FCS, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer (Acting), Grameenphone Limited were the panel discussants.
The CPD programme was opened by Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury FCS, Member Secretary, Professional Development Sub-Committee, who introduced all the invited guests of this programme.
While addressing, Muzaffar Ahmed said that through this kind of CPD program, members of the Institute have been enormously benefited with the updated knowledge.
He emphasized on communication, knowledge and action in respected fields.
In his keynote paper, Quazi M. Ahmed mentioned about 24 attributes of human being, where he specifically focused on courage and humility.
During the discussion, Akhter Matin Chaudhury FCA, FCS emphasized on different attributes and aspects of all round leadership.
He said that leadership is not confined. Leaders need to have clear vision. He also emphasized the importance of forming a team of good capable people. He also focused on leading the change and having good communication skill.
