Speaker terms visit of Vietnamese team ‘a milestone’

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Friday lauded the visit of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA)'s delegation, terming it as a milestone. 

"Bangladesh and Vietnam have completed fifty years of their bilateral relationship and at this time, the visit of the delegation to Bangladesh led by Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue is a milestone," she said. 

The speaker came up with the remarks while holding a meeting with the visiting delegation of Vietnam at Jatiya Sangsad Bhabanin the capital.

In the meeting, they discussed various issues such as Bangladesh-Vietnam long-standing friendly relations, geographical and cultural similarities between the two countries, ongoing unprecedented development of Bangladesh, gaining experience through mutual visit exchange and expansion of business, trade and investment of Vietnam in Bangladesh's economic zone, the release added.Noting that Vietnam is a true friend of Bangladesh, the speaker said both Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and historical leader of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh worked for the welfare of common people throughout their entire life. 

Vuong Dinh Hue said Bangladesh's socio-economic stability and ongoing development activities are highly commendable. 

Bangladesh is rapidly progressing to become Smart Bangladesh by 2041 through poverty alleviation and economic and infrastructural development, he said. 

He hoped that the relations between the parliaments of the two countries as well as the people of the two countries would be strengthened in the coming days.
