Speaker of the JatiyaSangsad (JS) DrShirin SharminChaudhury on Monday inaugurated a tree plantation programme by planting asapling on the premises of Parliament Members Club in the capital.
"Tree plantation is a continuous programme of the JatiyaSangsad (JS) as environmental protection is one of the most important issues in our country," she said while inaugurating the programme.
The speaker mentioned that climate change is not only adversely affecting people's lives but it also creating various types of crisis on them.
She called upon everyone to plant more trees to protect the environment and thanked those who participated in the event.
On the occasion, Dr Shirin Sharm in Chaudhury planted a mango tree and a rosewood sapling.
