SP seeks cooperation to stop violence against women

An anti-rape and anti-women repression meeting organised by Mongla Police Station was held with local people on the Mackardone Primary School premises on Tuesday. 

Presided over by Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, OC of Mongla Police Station, the meeting was attended, among others, by Pankaj Chandra Roy, Superintendent of Police of Bagerhat, as the chief guest, Upazila Chairman Abu Taher Howlader, Assistant Superintendent of Police Asif Iqbal, Principal of Mongla Government College Golam Sarowar, General Secretary of Upazila AL Ibrahim Hossain, Chandpai UP Chairman Molla Toriqul Islam and nearly 1,000 people of the area. 

SP Pankaj Chandra Roy in his speech mentioned, the incidents of rape are usually committed by near relatives or by the people living nearby. That is why it is possible to stop rape, drug trafficking and women repression if local people inform police.

SP also presented the family members of rape victims with vans. The meeting was conducted by Harun Mallik.
