Chattogram district superintendent of police (SP) Md Saiful Islam Santu inspected the security situation and preparations at various puja mandap in Chandanaish upazila on the occasion of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja.
He visited the puja mandaps and exchanged Sharadiya greetings with the followers of traditional religion on Monday night.
He directed to ensure the entry and exit routes, electricity connection, CCTV cameras, fire extinguishing system and active role of volunteers in all puja mandap. He also called on the puja udjapan committee to play a responsible role.
Addressing the general public, the Superintendent of Police said, 'Chattogram district police is always by your side to maintain communal harmony and amity. There is no fear about security during puja celebrations. You should be careful about propaganda, incitement or rumors. One should not react to any news without verifying it.’
He said that the district police has taken overall security measures so that people from all walks of life can celebrate the puja in a peaceful and festive atmosphere around Durga Puja.

Sohanur Rahman Sohag, OC of Chandanaish Police Station Golam Sarwar, OC of District Detective Branch Kawsar Hossain, local public representatives, leaders of the puja udjapan committee and journalists were present during the inspection.
