Southern University Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View, the first five-star hotel in Chittagong, to help develop relationships and build students' careers.
The agreement was formally signed by Southern University Registrar Dr Mozammel Haque and Radisson Manager Ronnie Fass in the conference room of the hotel on Tuesday afternoon.
Prof Dr Israt Jahan, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Southern University, Proctor Kazi Nazmul Huda, Head of the Department, Shakina Sultana Pami, Coordinator of the event and Co-ordinator, Department of Hotel and Tourism Management, Ali Ikramul Haque Ramis were present on the occasion.
The signing ceremony was jointly organized by the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management under the Faculty of Business Administration of Southern University and Radisson Blu. As a result of the signing of the MoU, the students of Hotel and Tourism Management of Southern University will have the opportunity to learn hand-in-hand by joining a 6-month internship at Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View.
In addition to gaining practical experience by observing the day-to-day activities of a five-star hotel during the internship, Southern students will also have a preference for employment at the institution.
Upon successful completion of the internship program, the hotel authorities will issue certificates to the interns. Also the heads of different departments of Radisson will share with the students their own gained experience in the workplace by participating in theoretical and practical classes as guest teachers.
Southern University Bangladesh and Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View will work together for research and development of potential tourism industries including trainings and workshops.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Engineer Md. Mozammel Haque said that with the signing of the MoU, Southern University has gone one step further. A new field of self-expression is created for Southern students. Southern University and Radisson Blu will always be there for the welfare of the students.
