The largest fertiliser factory in the South East Asia- the Ghorasal Palash Urea Fertiliser (GPUF) factory is going to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on November 12.
Constructed on 110 acres of land at a cost of Taka 15,500 crore, the Ghorasal Palash Urea Fertiliser (GPUF) factory will go to its full operation after the inauguration. During the full operation of the factory, some 30,000 people are likely to get direct and indirect employment opportunity here.
It is learnt, aiming to bring a revolutionary change in the Agriculture Sector and to end the food shortages from the country, the government took step to set up a high-powered, energy efficient, environment friendly and sophisticated technology based fertiliser factory in Ghorasal.
Two international construction firms-CC Seven of China and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited of Japan jointly started the construction works of the factory on March-10, 2020 and completed all the works two months ahead of the timeframe which was supposed to end in December-2023. The factory is test- producing the fertiliser now.
ASM Mosleh Uddin, General Manager (Operation) of GPUF Project informed,' The factory has been constructed using the most sophisticated technology of the world. As a result, it will continue hassle-free production for the next 30-year. Moreover, Bangladeshi engineers are also expert enough to resolve any problem of the factory.
Raziur Rahman Mallik, Project Director of GPUF informed, when the factory will go in full operation, it will provide permanent employment for 986 people. Moreover, some 1,500 to 2,000 people will get opportunity to work as daily basis workers. These daily basis workers will help loading-unloading of fertilisers in sacs, packing the sacks, loading those on trains and trucks. Moreover, some 30,000 people will directly or indirectly get employment opportunity involving the factory and its product.
He further informed, 'Bangladeshi engineers, officers and operators are capable enough to run the factory. They have been trained efficiently and the factory has already start production of fertiliser and we have successfully completed our trial run. The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the factory on November-12 and the factory will go on the full production afterwards.'
It is learnt, the factory will produce 10 lakh metric tonnes of Urea fertiliser annually. The factory is the largest, sophisticated technology based fertiliser factory in the South-East Asia with a daily production capacity of 2,800 mt of fertiliser.
