South Asia seminar on pvt sector engagement in skills held in Nepal

NSDA chief highlights BD’s skills development activities

A three-daylong South Asia Regional Seminar on ‘Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development’, held in Nepal was concluded on Friday.

Md. Faruque Hossain, Executive Chairman of the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) attended the seminar and delivered important speech highlighting skills development activities in Bangladesh. 

Senior government officials from other South Asian nations attended the seminar. Experts from different development and private sectors operating in the South Asian region presented various topics related to skills development and building effective employer engagement. 

Speaking at the seminar, Md. Faruque Hossain said, the government is giving top priority on skills development for attaining the desired economic growth through creating employment and income generation scopes.

The NSDA under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is working sincerely for skilling, reskilling and upskilling the country’s workforce, especially the large youth community and taking demographic dividend for sustainable growth of the country’s economy.

In the first seminar, two case studies - "Building Employer Engagement in Pakistan through TVET Reform" and "Employer Engagement: The Nepalese Employer's View" were shared.

Besides, a panel discussion was held to highlight the primary challenges and opportunities of private sector engagement in South Asia.

Key learning outcomes that came out from discussions on building effective employer engagement in #TVETSector include build trust, mutuality, beneficial relationship and move together, develop policy frameworks ensuring employer engagement, skilling according to market demand and focus on strategic process long term investment.
