Dr Soumitra Shekhar Dey has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU).He is a Professor in the Bangla department of Dhaka University. Former VC Professor AHM Mostafizur Rahman's term was not extended.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education issued a notification that Professor Soumitra Shekhar Dey was appointed Vice-Chancellor for four years. However, if applicable, he shall return to the original post at the age of regular service and fulfill the remainder of the said term after completing the formalities of retirement. It is further said that His Excellency the President can cancel the appointment at any time if necessary.
According to a circular signed by Mahmudul Alam, Deputy Secretary, Government General University Branch, Ministry of Education, with the approval of His Excellency the President and Chancellor, Abdul Hamid Soumitra Shekhar Dey has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Trishal, Mymensingh.
