There was some improvement. But once again there is tension about Soumitra Chatterjee’s physical condition has increased. An official at Bellevue Hospital in South Kolkata said the veteran actor’s condition had deteriorated on Saturday (October 24). He has stopped responding to treatment.

The 85-year-old actor’s medical team chief Arindam Kar said that although the organs were functioning well, the actor’s platelet count had dropped. At the same time, the levels of urea and sodium in the blood have increased. Doctors are thinking about making ‘some tough decisions’.

Arindam Kar added, “Soumitra’s consciousness regarding his surroundings is a bit less than it was 72 hours ago. Not sure how his physical condition is. We have received reports of various tests. From that, we can assume that covid encephalopathy is on the rise.”

Doctors have been worried about encephalopathy for several days. Immunoglobulin and steroids improved the condition for a while, but it did not last long.

He added, “Despite steroids and other attempts, he is not responding to treatment.

Doctors are also worried about Soumitra’s age. The head of the medical team said, “His lungs and blood pressure are well now. But there are reasons to be apprehensive. His platelet count has decreased. I am trying to understand the reason for that.”

The 85-year-old actor has been admitted to the hospital since October 6. Although his physical condition deteriorated from time to time, he was slowly recovering. His coronavirus report also came negative last week. But there was worry about his nervous condition. Meanwhile, concerns have increased again.
