Sonali Bank loses almost Tk 3 crore in a tender

Almost three crore taka has been lost from Sonali bank due to lack of proper measure in tender procedure.

Sonali Bank corporate branch of Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka published a tender notice for sale of a factory, machinery and land in Daily Sangbad on July 2, 2006 mentioning that the loan holder has defaulted and total outstanding amount is Tk 96,659,671.85.

Md Subed Ali and his wife Helena Pervin took bank loan mortgage of a total 215 decimal land and constructed a dyeing and knitting factory at Boro Deobhog area named Mrs Haris dyeing and knitted fabrics limited. 

Deputy general manager of Sonali Bank assessed the value of factory structures, machineries and land of 80 decimal out of 215 decimal on May 21, 2007 and that stood at Tk 39,389,791.

However, on July 6, 2006 Golam Hossain son of Nojibor Rahman purchased the factory structures, machineries and 80 decimal land at Tk 48 lakh from Artha Rin Adalat Dhaka-1 in Artha Jari case no-198/2004 in a tender.

Besides, DESA and Titas  gas authority have dues of more than Tk 300,000. DESA had filed a case, bearing no-624/07, against factory owner with the special magistrate court-4, DESA Dhaka.
