Husain Sharif Sanjoy, son of former Jatiya Party MP Shariful Islam Jinnah from Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency, has been arrested and sent to jail. Sanjoy, also the General Secretary of the Jatiya Jubo Sanghati’s Bogura District unit, was detained in the Vatara area of Dhaka Metropolitan on Wednesday.
According to Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinuzzaman Shahin, Sanjoy was spotted and apprehended by locals, who handed him over to Vatara Police Station. He is a resident of Mahasthan in Shibganj and faces multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, sabotage, and possession of explosives.
Following his detention, he was transferred to Shibganj Police on Thursday in connection with a case filed there. That afternoon, Sanjoy was presented before the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Bogura, where Judge Mehedi Hasan ordered his imprisonment under a pending arrest warrant.
