The World Egg Day-2019 was observed on Friday with various programmes aiming to promote eggs and the benefits of egg consumption.
Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS), Bangladesh Poultry Industry Coordination Committee (BPICC) and different other organisations arranged various programmes across the country.
Experts and speakers of the programmes mentioned regular egg intake is very much important for maintaining sound health as it is a balanced food to all irrespective of age, male, female and season. They stressed resolving existing problems in the poultry sector for making the poultry farming more profitable and lucrative.
In Rajshahi, the DLS and the BLS jointly organised the day programme titled “Everyday Egg Intaking for Healthy and Nutritious Nation” at the conference hall of Rajshahi Divisional DLS Office. Bangladesh Poultry Industry Coordination Committee (BPICC), Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (DVAS) in Rajshahi University (RU) and World Poultry Science Association supported the programme.
Commissioner-in-Charge of Rajshahi division Dr Abdul Mannan addressed the meeting as chief guest while Divisional Deputy Director of DLS Kolyan Kumar Fouzder in the chair. DVAS Chairman Prof SM Kamruzzaman, District Livestock Officer Dr Humayun Kabir, Assistant Director of District Artificial Insemination Centre Dr Ismail Haque, BLS President Prof Jalal Uddin Sarder and its General Secretary Dr Hemayetul Islam and district unit general secretary of Bangladesh Poultry Association Enamul Haque also spoke on the occasion.
During his keynote presentation, Dr Ruhul Amin Al Faruque, divisional assistant director of DLS, narrated the significance of the day and consumption of egg.
The speakers said that existing problems in the poultry sector should be addressed for making the poultry farming more profitable and lucrative.
In Meherpur, marking the day, Department of Livestock Services brought out a colourful rally Zilla Shilpakala Academy in the district town. The rally ended at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, reports our Meherpur Correspondent.
At the end of the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner's office. The nutritional content and requirements of egg were discussed in the discussion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Iwadat Hossain was present as the chief guest at the meeting chaired by the District Livestock Officer Dr Jahangir Alam. Deputy Director of the District Agriculture Extension Department Dr. Akhtaruzzaman was present as special guest.
District Livestock Department officials and leaders of the District Poultry Farm Owners Association including Poultry farmers were present during the meeting.
