Ole Gunnar Solskjaer warned there was no "quick fix" at Manchester United, although the Premier League giants are still hoping for further signings, Goal explains.
Solskjaer is still hoping for further additions to his squad, but – as he did earlier in the year – again asked for patience as United look to close the gap to the top.
"I know it's hard getting players in and over the line," the manager said. "We've been doing our jobs. We've been finding, identifying players. Scouting them. But they have got clubs."
"It took time with Aaron, it took time with Dan, but they got it over the line. It's not like we're going to sign 10 players. It can't be a quick fix."
"As I've said to you, we're working on one or two and we're still hoping but I also understand that the market has changed. Prices have soared."
United's approach in the transfer market has been criticised at times, but Solskjaer said the club would remain patient.
"We have been linked with so many players. I am sure you don't believe every single player that we have been linked with," he said.
"But I think that Man United sometimes have, because of the wealth, maybe we have had to pay more, a bigger premium to get players in and that's just the world we live in.
"And we have taken our time and we are not going to overpay but we have to get the right people in, the right players."
"I can't dive into all these hypothetical questions, but we've not had offers," Solskjaer said when asked about Pogba's future. "I've said so many times about Paul that he's a top, top boy and a great player, and he's never, ever been a problem.
"I've not been upset by anything he's said because we've had many conversations, and I know exactly what Paul is thinking. I can give him a new challenge."
"You can't spoon-feed them," Solskjaer said when asked about the 30-year-old former Barcelona man. "They've got to come in and grab their chances, and Alexis is quality, and he showed it in the Copa America.
"Then he got his injury. I don't think it's too bad, so I'm hoping he will be available for maybe Kristiansund or AC Milan, so he will at least get some football before the season starts. The way we hope we are going to play, it doesn't have to be a 6-foot-4 striker, so Alexis can be part of that forward line."
"I think it's a general society thing as well that there are less Robbos and Keanos [Roy Keane] around," Solskjaer said. "I played with Keano, and I think any manager in the world would say I would love to have one who is that type of leader.
"Look at City and Kompany. Who knows what will happen? Because he is a fantastic human being, player and leader, so someone else has to step up, and someone else has to step up for us."
“Paul is a fantastic player, a fantastic human being and has always been a great professional,” Solskjaer told reporters in Perth.
“I said (previously), ‘if he’s in your squad, you’d build your team around him’... I haven’t changed that much since then, so I’d say the same now.”
“We know Paul has been criticised by a few but he’s loved by loads more,” Solskjaer added. “The ones that might want to leave (the club) now haven’t been here when it’s been successful. Hopefully they want to be part of that. I want to be part of it.”
