The Socialist Party of Bangladesh (SPB-Marxist) has split with the expelled leaders forming a ‘Central Reading Circle’ for Covid19 on their way to start a new revolutionary party.

Comrade Shuvangshu Chakraborty will coordinate the activities of the 39-member new reading circle for the pandemic time, said a statement.

The name of the new party, activities of which have already begun, will be announced as soon as possible.
Chakraborty was the member of the central steering committee of SPB-Marxist. In January, he was expelled along with 16 leaders for what they said protesting the party top leader’s ‘undemocratic decisions’. The top leaders could not implement the philosophy of the party in all spheres, they said.

The SPB broke away in 2013 and formed the SPB-Marxist.

The Reading Circle will now stand by the people at this time of crisis due to pandemic and will continue their process to form opinion for the new party.

The decision to form a new party was made before the pandemic broke out in March.

“It was not possible to start the new party officially due to the existing unusual situation. Since it’s still uncertain what will unfold in the coming days, we’ll continue our effort to form the new party while standing by the side of the people during this difficult time.

“The official announcement (of the new party) will be made after discussing with our well-wishers and supporters as soon as possible,” read the statement.
