The newly appointed secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Md Khairul Alam Sheikh Thursday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
After laying the wreath, the secretary stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation.
Later, he offered munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other martyrs who had to embrace martyrdom on the fateful August 15, 1975.
A special prayer was offered seeking longevity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members.
The secretary signed the visitors' book at the Tungipara Mausoleum Complex.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mosammat Nazmun Nahar, Deputy Director of Gopalganj District Social Service Office Md. Harun-Or- Rashid, Assistant Director Md. Zulfikar Ali and officials of the Ministry of Social Welfare, among others, were present.
