For five months in a row, a group of people from a social organisation called the “Chhinnamul Sheba Shongstha” has been delivering food to more than two hundred uprooted people every day.

After 10 pm, a group of people arrived at the ashram with food on their way to Ishwardi town of Pabna, including roads, stations, sidewalks, railway booking counters and bus stands. They distribute food every night among the poor and helpless.

Rafiqul Hasan Tapan Sardar, a resident of Pabna Road in the city, took the initiative to deliver cooked food to them once a day and started delivering food to them. Seeing this, one by one his close friends and relatives joined him. After discussions, they first decided to provide cooked food to 100 people.

Three or four members of the organisation said that those who used to serve food to the needy at home on the occasion of birthday, Akika or any special day in Ishwardi, now do not organize food at home and provide food for the needy through their organisation.

Welcoming the initiative of the volunteers, Pabna Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Kabir Mahmud Ishwardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shihab Raihan and many other people extended their hand in cooperation. They said that many foreigners are also donating money.

Entrepreneur Rafiqul Islam Tapan Sardar said, “Shops, hotels and restaurants were closed as per the government instructions at the beginning of the corona infection. In this, the helpless people spend their days without eating.

After seeing this situation, some of us decided to deliver cooked food together.

It has been going on since then and it is still going on. As long as kind-hearted people continue to   cooperate with us, these activities will continue.”

The cooking was done in a room adjacent to the Ishwardi Power  Development Board office on Pabna Road in the city. From the funds of the organization, some necessary things including decks, pots and pans used for cooking have been purchased.

Sentu Biswas, a prominent businessman in the area, saw their humanitarian activities and provided a private car to market and distribute food. Some days of the week khichuri, some days biryani, some days meat with white rice, some days eggs, mashed potatoes or vegetables and rice are cooked and distributed.

Meanwhile, a convening committee of the “Chinnomul Sheba Shongstha” has been formed. Recently, a meeting was held at the office adjacent to the Ishwardi Power Office to form a committee. It was presided over by teacher Kabir Ali Hiru.

At the end of the meeting, a 51-member convening committee was formed with Rafiqul Hasan Tapan Sardar as the convener and Biplob Hossain Bipu as the joint convener.
