Social media users have expressed their indignation at the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad. On Monday, Abrar’s body recovered from a dormitory of BUET which triggered a collective demand for justice. Abrar’s classmates claimed that the Facebook status given by Abrar on the recent deals with India became Abrar’s doom.

Head of BRAC migration programme, Shariful Hasan, wrote on his Facebook “This is reminiscent of Biswajit killing; what was Abrar’s fault.” We want a proper investigation of the matter and the perpetrators need to be punished, he added. Reportedly, he was called by a group of students and then around 7-8 pm, his dead body was found on the stairs.

There’s a lot of smoke and mirrors since the administration is silent while it’s been said that there is a problem with CCTV footage. Organisational secretary of Chhatra Federation, Sadik Reza, said “Abrar was active on Facebook against Indian actions in Kashmir.” A development worker said, “Through the judicial process of Abrar, the actual state of the country will be revealed.”
