Social forestry programme inaugurated by Gopalganj police

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a virtual meeting on tree planting was held under the Social Forestation Programme-2021 organized by Bangladesh Police and Punak with the theme ‘Promise in Mujib Year, Make Sonar Bangla Green’.

The Inspector General (IG) of Bangladesh Police and Punak's Chief Adviser Dr Benazir Ahmed and Punak President Zeeshan Mirza participated as the chief guests at the virtual meeting held at the conference room of the Police Headquarters on Wednesday morning. Other senior officers of the police headquarters and police commissioners of different departments also participated in the virtual meeting along with DIGs of different ranges, police superintendents and other officers of 64 districts of the country.

Gopalganj District Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddiqa was present at the virtual meeting of the police headquarters. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Md Abdur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Nihad Adnan Taiyan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters Circle) Md. Khairul Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Police Station Md. Monirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tungipara Police Station AFM Nasim, Officer-in-Charge of District Intelligence Branch Mohammad Masud Rana, DIO-1 Mohammad Aminul Islam and others were also present.

After the virtual meeting, Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddiqa planted saplings on her office premises at 12.40 pm in coordination with police units across the country. Later, as part of the programme, a total of 20 saplings of fruit and forest trees were planted at the District Police Superintendent’s Office, Police Lines and Gopalganj Sadar Police Station.
