Coronavirus pandemic has become a bane for the normal livelihood of people. Even though the country hasn’t declared a serious level lockdown, the citizens are going through a state of undeclared containment. The government has, however, declared general closure for all offices and commercial facilities to prevent the spread of the virus.

Moreover, according to experts, social distancing is the key to countering this coronavirus outbreak which has claimed the lives of thousands around the world. To this end it can be inferred that the steps that the government has so far taken entails to ensure some level of social distancing.

However, on the roads and streets around residential areas, it is still visible that people are reluctant to stay inside their homes despite the continuous pleas of the authorities. The only way, so far, which the experts have identified to bring down the spread of the virus is through staying indoors and avoiding socializing. Bangladesh may already be a Level-3 country as per the World Health Organization’s categorization of coronavirus infected countries. This means that infections are restricted to certain areas of the country.

If proper containment cannot be ensured

then a full blown infection of the population

will take place in Bangladesh

If proper containment cannot be ensured then a full blown infection of the population will take place in Bangladesh which is far more populated than any other country and the risk of spread is far higher here than anywhere else in the world. With the number of infected per day slowly increasing, the additional testing facilities will add to identifying the infected on a larger scale.

However, the divisional cities where the placement of people per square kilometer is higher than the rural areas, it is imperative that people don’t go out of their homes unless it is an absolute emergency.

It is still astonishing that adolescents are seen grouped up in many residential areas of the capital even after such awareness is being created in the country. It is important for the local authorities to take charge on unitary level and ensure that rules are adhered by the populace and exercise punitive actions if not.
