‘Smuggling will decrease if border people become self-reliant’

Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh Major General Safinul Islam has said that the more people at the frontier villages become self- reliant, the more decrease of smuggling.

BGB Director General said this at a function of distributing 100-boat among the boatmen and fishermen of frontier villages at T-embankment area beside the river Padma in Rajshahi on Tuesday noon. 

He further said those 1oo boats will not only make 100-people self-reliant rather those will help 100 boatmen family members to live with the new dream. The more the frontier marginal people get self-reliant, the more decrease of frontier-related crimes and the smuggling, he added. 

Recalling contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the BGB DG mentioned, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman envisioned to build a happy, prosperous Sonar Bangla by bringing smiles on the faces of the poor, distressed people of the country. To realise the dream of Bangabandhu, BGB was working to change the lot of the paupers, helpless marginal people living at frontier villages in addition to safe-guarding the frontier of the country. He further mentioned, in observation of the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu, 100-boats were presented among the marginal fishermen and boatmen to make them self reliant. 

The function was attended, among others, by RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, MP of Rajshahi sadar Fazley Hossain Badsha, Region Commander of BGB Headquarters Rangpur Brigadier General Kaisar Hasan Malik, Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi Humayun Kabir Khandker, DIG of Police, Rajshahi range Abdul Baten, RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique, BGB, Sector Commander, Rajshahi Colonel Tuhin M. Masud and Commander of BGB Rajshahi Battalion Colonel Ferdous Ziauddin Mahmud.
