A group of drug smugglers attacked a team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) during a raid along the Daulatpur border in Jashore’s Benapole on Monday.
BGB chased a group of drug smugglers’ in Daulatpur border sand field when they were entering Bangladesh with a large consignment of Phensidyl brought from India, said Naik Subedar Saiful Islam of Daulatpur Camp of 21 BGB Battalion.
Then drug smugglers launched an attack on the BGB men.
As the BGB fired bullets in self-defense, leaving a drug peddler injured and prompting others to flee.
The injured was identified as Rahmat. He was taken to the Sharsha Upazila Health Complex before being referred to Jashore General Hospital as his condition deteriorated, Islam said.The BGB recovered some 96 bottles of Phensidyl and a sharp weapon from the spot, he added.
