Smuggler gets 10-yr jail

A Chuadanga court on Thursday awarded a person to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fined Tk. 10 thousand, in default to suffer more 4 months in a phensedyl smuggling case. The convict was identified as Abu Hanif Robin of Konapara in Jatrabari of Dhaka city. According to public prosecutor Adv. Belal Hossain, Jibannagar Thana Police intercepted a Chuadanga bound micro bus at Shialmary Poshu Hat on Chuadanga-Jibannagar road in Jibannagar upazila of the district, after searching recovered 215 bottles of phensedyl and arrested Abu Hanif from the micro bus on October 3, 2015.

Sub Inspector of the thana Ekaramul Hoque filed a case against him. Investigation officer of the case submitted charge sheet for trail on September 23, 2015. After examining documents and 14 witnesses District and Session Judge Mohammad Robiul Islam found him guilty and pronounced the verdict. Adv. Selim Uddin Khan pleaded the case on behalf of convict, while Adv. Belal Hossain was for state.
