Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) can play a vital role to get over the economic loss due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Bangladesh’s economy is fairing relatively better despite the pandemic-induced global economic slowdown.
The SME has got a huge contribution in the country’s economy. The government is also helping to build new small and medium businesses.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been encouraging everyone to use local products. She has also announced incentives to keep the wheel of the economy running.
Not only the readymade garments of Bangladesh but also the shoes are attracting the customers of home and abroad.
The quality of Bangladeshi shoes and other leather products is very exclusive and the price is inexpensive. More than one five hundred shoe factories are producing huge amount of shoes regularly in Dhaka. Many shoe factories are doing good business despite the coronavirus pandemic.
One of the shoe factory owners, Aziz, told Bangladesh Post “We are getting good orders from local shoppers. Our product is very cheap. The quality of the products will also satisfy the customers.”
Another factory owner, Shakil, said that Bangladeshi shoes are attractive in style. We faced several challenges in last six months due to coronavirus. Now, the situation is being changed. We hope to make good profit in coming days, he added.
The leather and leather goods, shoes and the accessories industries are growing at a faster rate.
Many people were seen buying shoes from a street shopper in city’s Motijheel area. They expressed satisfaction as they could buy shoes and sandals at a cheaper price.
The shoppers were also happy as they got fair price for their products.
