Civil Aviation and Tourism state minister Md. Mahbub Ali has emphasized the pivotal role of a smart aviation industry in building a developed and smart Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the newly constructed terminal building of ‘Jashore Airport’ he highlighted the government’s tireless efforts to transform Bangladesh's aviation sector into a smart hub on the global stage.
The State Minister praising Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visionary leadership lauded the impressive progress made in various sectors, including economy, trade, infrastructure, education, aviation, and tourism, under the government's developmental policies.
Pointing to the growth and potential in Bangladesh’s aviation industry, Md. Mahbub Ali credited the policy support from the government for attracting increased investment in the sector. He revealed that the country's aviation market had almost doubled in the last decade, with expectations of tripling in growth over the next 15 years. Regarding Jashore Airport, the State Minister highlighted the substantial development work undertaken over the past fourteen years. The newly constructed terminal, a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the people of the area, will significantly enhance passenger services, providing a safe and comfortable environment for
travelers.
The upgraded airport is expected to play a vital role in boosting tourism and economic activities in the region.
The modern terminal building, constructed under the supervision of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, boasts eight check-in counters, five luggage scanning machines, five archways, a VIP lounge, and ample car parking. Additional developments, including the runway lighting system, electrical substations, cargo aircraft parking, apron extension, taxiway construction, and safety equipment installation, further enhance the airport's capabilities.
The event witnessed the participation of esteemed guests, including Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, Air Vice Marshal Md. Mofidur Rahman, State Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya MP, Member of Parliament for Jessore-2 Constituency Major General (retd) Dr. Nasir Uddin, Member of Parliament for Jessore-3 Constituency Kazi Nabil Ahmed, and Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mokammel Hossain.
The completion of the modern terminal building at Jessore Airport marks a significant milestone in the nation's pursuit of a sustainable and efficient aviation industry, in line with the government's vision for a developed and smart Bangladesh.
