Sixteen meritorious students of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems and the Department of Political Science of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded Trust Fund Scholarship for their outstanding academic performances. Among them, eight students of DU Accounting and Information Systems Department have received ‘Accounting 1979 Batch Trust Fund Scholarship’ and eight others of Political Science Department have received ‘Prof. Shahidul Haque Munshi Trust Fund Scholarship’. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed these scholarships among the students as the chief guest at separate functions held on Monday at VC’s Lounge of the university.
Treasurer of DU Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen, Chairman of Accounting and Information Systems Department Prof. Dr. Dhiman Kumar Chowdhury, Prof. Ferdous Hossain of Political Science Department, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker and donor’s representatives were present on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to become good human being after equipping themselves with humanitarian values as well as honesty and courage. He also called upon them to prepare themselves as skilled human resources and pay respect to others. They have to work for betterment of the society, the VC added.
The recipients of ‘Accounting 1979 Batch Trust Fund scholarship’ are Mst. Raida, Md. Shamim Hosen, Jannatul Ferdos Ripa, Sagor Das, Rubaiya Shaams Tuhfa, Anik Agarwal, Niloy Talukder Dibbo and Ashraful Islam.
The recipients of ‘Prof. Shahidul Haque Munshi Trust Fund Scholarships’ are Md. Ariful Islam, Pranto Sarker, Md. Mamun Sarder, Md. Safiul Arfin Shahanshah, Md. Shahriar Nazim Simanto, Md. Saiful Islam Sujon, Md. Mokarram Hossain and Ismail Hossain.
