Six shops gutted in Mirzaganj

Two shops of Bhayang Bazar in Mirzaganj of Patuakhali were burnt to ashes. Apart from this, 4 other shops were partially damaged. However, no one was injured. The incident happened on Saturday around 10:30 pm. Businessmen claim that there has been a loss of about half a million rupees. It is said that the fire started from Modi and Manohari's shop called Howladar Enterprise of Md Nasa Howladar of Bhang village.

Eyewitnesses and businessmen said that on Saturday night, the flames of the fire in Nasa Howladar's shop immediately spread to the surrounding shops. As soon as the fire broke out, the villagers tried to put out the fire. On receiving the information, a unit of Mirzaganj Fire Service brought the fire under control with the help of local residents.

Before the fire could be brought under control, Modi-Manohri shop of Nasa Howlader and Varieties store of Bimal Chandra Halder were completely gutted and Baishakhi Sweets of Kabir Mridha, Hezbollah store of Chagir Mridha, Fertilizer shop of Kabir Mollah and Sultan Khan's grocery store were partially damaged.

Upazila Chairman Khan Md. Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Vice-Chairman Md. Zahirul Islam Jewel and Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mosa. Tania Ferdous visited the site of the incident on Sunday (August 7) morning. At this time, they assured the upazila parishad and administration to provide necessary assistance to the victims.

Inspector of Mirzaganj Fire Service. Farooq Hossain Howladar said that before the fire service personnel reached the spot, 2 shops and the goods of the market were burnt to ashes and four shops were partially damaged. An estimated loss of Tk 21 lakh 60 thousand has been caused and goods worth Tk 37 lakh 50 thousand have been recovered.
