Six RMP cops suspended for taking drugs, gambling

Six cops under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police were suspended for taking drugs and gambling at a residential hotel. RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique in on office order suspended them on Thursday evening and closed those suspended-police to Rajshahi Police Line. 

Suspended police members have been identified as-Assistant Police Inspectors Abdul Barek and Mijanur Rahman, Nayek Afzal Sarker, Constables Farhad Hossain, Abdus Salam and Shahed Ali. All these six policemen were posted at the Police Line of Rajshahi.

An office order signed by RMP Commissioner said, the said policemen on Wednesday night those policemen went to the hotel 'Biyer Amontron' at Sheikhpara area of the city and engaged in gambling with chess after getting drunk at a room at the first floor of the hotel. Being informed, ASI Masud Rana of Boalia police station went to the room at 1-22 AM night and see the drunken policemen continuing gambling with money. 

Masud Rana informed the incident to his higher authorities and handed over to those six policemen to RMP Police officials Mahfuzur Rahman and Abu Bakar Siddique. 

The order issued by the Police Commissioner further mentioned such activities of police members is against the departmental discipline and equal to misconduct. So, those policemen were suspended from their posts under PRB rules 880 from January-7. Those policemen will be kept closed in Police Line during their suspension period and they will get their food and allowances according to the rule.
