Sitakunda Jubo Dal activist killed in fictional clash

 A Jubo Dal activist named Sajib Chowdhury Akash (25) was killed in a clash between two groups of BNP in Sitakunda of Chattogram. 

Police recovered his bloody body from a tomato field in Guptakhali village of ward number 4 of Muradpur union of the upazila on Wednesday, around 11 am.

The deceased Sajib Chowdhury Akash is the son of Shah Alam of Abutorab area of Mirsharai upazila. He had been living with his family in his maternal grandfather's house in Sitakunda for a long time. Police have arrested a person named Rakib in this incident.

According to local sources, a clash took place between BNP leader Abdul Alim's group and Md. Shahabuddin group, the organizing secretary of the union Jubo Dal of the same area, in Guptakhali village of Muradpur union on Tuesday around 8 pm. 

 At least five people were injured in the chase and counter-chase and attack by both sides. Sajib, a youth activist of Shahabuddin Group, had been missing since the clash.

Later, on Tuesday night, Sajib's family filed a missing person's diary with Sitakunda Model Police Station. On Wednesday morning, locals found Sajib's bloody body lying in a vegetable field in Guptakhali village and informed the police. Later, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.

Some local residents, who did not want to be named, said that Abdul Alim and Shahabuddin may be candidates for the post of member from ward number 4 of Muradpur Union in the upcoming Union Parishad elections. There was a long-standing dispute between the two parties regarding this. It is believed that the murder incident occurred out of that dispute.

 Md. Shahabuddin, Organizing Secretary of Union Jubo Dal, said that the deceased Sajib used to look after his CNG auto-rickshaw garage.  A few days ago, a settlement was held in the village over the theft of a CNG autorickshaw battery. As a result of that incident, a dispute arose with Abdul Alim's group and Sajib was killed. He also alleged that five more members of his group were hacked to death.

Sitakunda Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Belal said that a clash broke out between two groups in Guptakhali village of Muradpur union on Tuesday night. The body of a young man was recovered from a tomato field On Wednesday morning. The body has been sent to the Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action is underway in the incident.
