Bangladesh registered 197 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday, taking the total number of death to 23,810.
The country recorded 8,465 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,405,333, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.
The death rate now stands at 1.69 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 20.83 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.85 percent.
Among the 197 deceased, 108 were men, and 89 were women. Of the victims, 188 died in different hospitals across the country while nine died at home.
78 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 53 from Chattogram, 18 from Khulna, 12 from Mymensingh, 11 from Barisal, nine from Rangpur, and eight each were from Rajshahi and Sylhet.
A total of 40,641 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.
During this period 11,457 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,273,522 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 90.62 percent.
As of Friday, 4,352,344 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 206,435,218 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
