Tahmina Rahman and Ejaz Ahmed were the winners in the female and male division respectively in the 9th edition of the Sikder Group Independence Day Golf tournament when Col. Humayun Rashed received the runners up trophy.
Meanwhile, a flamboyant closing and the prize giving ceremony of the three-day meet was held at the Kumitola Golf Club (KGC) on Saturday. Lt. General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, Chief of General Staff, Bangladesh Army distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
A total of 663 golfers of different clubs from across the country took part in the grand Independence Day tournament, Sponsored by the Sikder Group, one of the pioneer and leading corporate houses of the country.
The Male, female and children golfers competed in different categories events in the three-day meet when the closing and the prize giving ceremony was held followed by a cultural function at the Banquet Hall of the KGC on the day.
The renowned and legendary singer Ferdous Wahid rendered some of his popular songs that enthrolled the closing ceremony and the packed up hall also enjoyed much the beautiful sequences presented by young artistes.
Apart from the chief of General Staff of the Bangladesh Army, the chief guest Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, Major General Zahirul Islam, Area Commander Logistic Area, Dhaka and the vice-president of the KGC, Farid Uddin Khan Rumy and Sayed Kamrul Islam advisor and CEO of the R & R Holdings Limited of Sikder Group respectively, Brigadier General Syed Rafiqul Islam, Club Captain KGC, Brigadier General Abidur Reza Khan (Rtd), chairman, tournament committee, KGC, Lt. Col. Sayedur Rahman (Rtd) Acting Chief Executive Officer KGC, Lt. Col. Anwar Hossain (Rtd), GM of Golf operations of KGC and high ups of the R & R Aviation and Holdings Limited were present among other distinguished guests.
