Corona virus raged in Narayanganj from the beginning of the pandemic. Of all the districts, Narayanganj had the highest number of corona detections. Even the first corona patient in the country was identified in Narayanganj. Sajeda Hospital in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj treated Covid patients in that critical situation. At the end of the contract with the Department of Health, the hospital stopped treating Covid-19 patients in last year’s December.

The second wave of corona infections is causing a record number of deaths across the country. Locals are worried as there is no Corona Hospital in Siddhirganj at the moment. In the current situation, the locals have called for the reopening of Corona Hospital.

Kamal Hossain, a resident of Paynadi area of Siddhirganj became Covid-19 positive in May 2020. He returned home after 23 days of treatment at Shajeda hospital. He said the number of corona detections is increasing across the country. At the beginning of the infection, many patients were treated at Sajeda Hospital. At the moment, if anyone in our area is positive for Covid-19, which hospital will take treatment? Moreover, I hear that most of the hospital beds are not empty. For this we need Corona Hospital in our area (Siddhirganj).

Suruvi Akhter of Hirajhil area of Siddhirganj tested positive for Covid-19 in June last year and was treated at Sajeda Hospital for 18 days. Expressing concern over the closure of the hospital, he said the situation in Korona is getting worse day by day. Corona Hospital in Siddhirganj needed to be open at that time. I will request those concerned to open the Corona Hospital soon.

A doctor, who did not want to be named, said most of the corona patients in Narayanganj were treated at Sajeda Hospital in the first wave of infection. Infection is on the rise again. At the moment, it is necessary to open a corona hospital in Narayanganj.

Meanwhile, Narayanganj City Corporation (Nasik) councilor (reserved wards 7, 8 and 9) Ayesha Akhter Dina gave a status on the opening of Corona Hospital to the mayor and members of parliament on her Facebook ID on April 6 at noon. The status goes viral right now.

Narayanganj District Civil Surgeon Dr Imtiaz Ahmed told Bangladesh Post that there is no possibility of opening a corona hospital in Siddhirganj at the moment.

Calling on everyone to be aware of the current situation, the three said, "If everyone is aware from their respective places, it will be easier to deal with the situation." Therefore, it is important to follow everyone's hygiene rules.

Incidentally, an agreement was signed on March 21, 2020 between the Department of Health and Sajeda Hospital in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. The contract expired on December 31. From the beginning to the end of providing medical services to Kovid-19 patients in this hospital, 963 corona patients from 39 districts of eight divisions of the country have been admitted. Among them, 131 patients have availed services in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
