Shyama Puja celebrated

Shyama Puja, a religious festival of the Hindu community, was celebrated in Lakshmipur, Narail and other districts on Saturday night. 

In Lakshmipur, on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lakshmipur Anjan Chandra Pal attended a programme as the chief guest organised by Kalibari Mandir in the district town. President of the Lakshmipur Puja celebration committee Advocate Shaibal Kanti presided over the programme while General Secretary Swapan Debnath conducted it. Shankar Majumder, Uttam Debnath, Swapan Debnath and others were present. 

At the end of the programme, the chief guest distributed clothes among the poor and needy of the Hindu community and took part in the puja. 

A ‘Mangal Pradeep’ lighting ceremony was held at Siddheswari Kalimata Temple at Lohagara Upazila of Narail on Saturday night marking the Shyama Puja. 

The puja began on Saturday night and ended on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, ‘Mangal Pradeep’ lighting ceremonies was held at Siddheswari Kalimata Temple in Laxmipasha area in Lohagara Upazila of Narail. On this occasion, various programmes were organised in the temple including special worship of the Goddess Kali, lighting of ‘Mangal Pradeep' and distribution of Prasad among the devotees. 

Lohagara Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rakhi Banerjee was present on the occasion as the Chief Guest.
